The switches supplied had to be capable of supporting future developments, such as VOIP and IP CCTV.
SOLUTION PROVIDED
Rapid Technologies provided:
- A 3COM, fully managed, multi-gigabit backbone using the 3COM chassis-based switch at the core and high performance managed stackable switches at the edge. This included full redundancy using 3COM XRN technology. Every location was multi Gigabit to allow faster performance and redundancy.
The switches were configured to support V-LANs and Layer 3 to increase flexibility and performance. All of the switches supplied included high-level Quality of Service allowing segregation of voice, video and data traffic where required. - A server farm consisting on Fujitsu Siemens RX200 and RX300 servers. This was complemented by the Fujitsu Siemens N40i & AX100 fibre channel NAS solution. This gave the high school almost 2Terrabyte of storage. It has capability to easily upgrade at a later date.
- 50 Fujitsu Siemens Scenic Workstation screens which replaced the existing Workstations. Each Workstation had a 17" TFT flat panel display.
The solution was leased over a 3-year period to accomodate the school's budget requirements.
