CLIENT'S REQUIREMENTS
The High School required:
- an electronic registration system.
- all laptops to connect to the network using industry standard wireless technology and provide secure and seamless mobility throughout the site.
- a secure system as it was to hold confidential information.
- a solution that was managed from a central location in order to save time but also to facilitate the control of the system.
ISSUES RAISED
The High School internal walls were difficult to penetrate as they were extremely thick and made of stone which created cabling and signal penetration issues.
This issue was resolved by Rapid Technologies' Specialist Installation Team who employed specialist-drilling equipment.
The signal penetration issue was resolved by careful planning and additional access points were deployed to ensure full coverage.
SOLUTION PROVIDED
Rapid Technologies provided:
- a 3Com managed wireless switch solution. This consisted of a wireless LAN controller at the core of the network, which provided centralised management and control of a wireless environment.
- supplied and installed MAPs (Managed Access Points) throughout the site to provide the High School with wide secure wireless networking.
