Wide Area Networks
Wide Area Network (WANs) are built to provide communication solutions for organisations or people who need to exchange digital information between two distant places.
The logistics of moving voice and data across the Internet, or from one site to another, can be very different to sharing files with your colleague in the same building. The data rates available when moving traffic over a WAN are rarely as high as when the traffic is kept local, and the decisions as to what form of WAN connection should be used by organisations can often only be changed on an annual basis at best.
