WEEE
The Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Regulations (2006 No. 3289) (WEEE Regulations) have been put in place to ensure that
products are recycled using best available treatment, recovery and recycling techniques to ensure human health and high environmental protection..
The wheelie bin symbol on any product and/or its accompanying documents means that it is classed as Electrical or Electronic
Equipment (EEE) and is covered by the WEEE Regulations. EEE may contain hazardous substances which, if exposed, may have a
serious detrimental effect on the environment and human health. The wheelie bin symbol means that at its end of life, the
product should not be mixed with general household waste.
As part of the WEEE Regulations, Rapid Technologies has joined the Distributor Take-Back Scheme the aim of which is to
increase recycling rates of waste EEE (WEEE) in the UK and allow end users to recycle any old electrical items free of
charge. As a consequence of our membership of the Distributor Take-Back Scheme, Rapid Technologies will not accept returns
of household WEEE itself and cannot accept WEEE returns for recycling, neither do we make arrangements for its collection.
To find your nearest recycling site for WEEE, please contact your local council, or visit
www.recycle-more.co.uk and type your
postcode into the recycling bank locator.
Disposing of electrical products correctly will help to save valuable resources and prevent potential effects on the
environment which could otherwise arise from inappropriate waste handling.
